INDIAN NAVAL SHIPS DELHI, SHAKTI

Part of the Indian Navy's Operational Deployment of its Eastern Fleet to the South China Sea included a visit to Manila, Philippines by the Indian Naval Ships Delhi, Shakti, and Kiltan. India's strong links to the Philippines and its commitment to strengthening those ties were made clear by the visit.

Subject Matter Expert Exchange (SMEE) between Indian and Philippine Navy officers, sports matches, cross-deck visits, cultural interactions, and cooperative community outreach programs were all part of the port call.

R Adm Renato David, Commander Philippine Fleet (CPF), and V Adm Rolando Lizor Punzalan Jr., Deputy Commandant for Operations, Philippine Coast Guard, interacted with R Adm Rajesh Dhankhar, Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Fleet, and Commanding Officers of ships. The Flag Officer in Command (FOIC), Vice Adm Toribio Dulinayan Adaci JT, and FOCEF also had extensive conversations about areas of mutual interest, potential areas of cooperation, and the state of security both locally and globally. The visit gave the fleets of India and the Philippines a chance to talk about improving their naval cooperation and interoperability.

The port call is a testament to the strong diplomatic and defence ties between India and Philippines. It is a demonstration of India's commitment for maintenance of peace and stability in the region in consonance to its 'Act East' and SAGAR policies.
